Brian Entin does a quick recap:
Officials say their $500,000 budget isnât cutting it and their DOS-based computer system installed over 10 years ago is falling apart. Even worse, the only person who knows how to fix the system is going to retire soon.

Tax cell phone users????? Posted by concerned citizen, Missouri - Wednesday, August 05, 2009 at 2:26 p.m. I am totally at a loss when it comes to government and how it functions or in some cases, does NOT function. 911 services are used across the board by ALL citizens. That would include those without "cell phones". I realize that most people carry them these days but not ALL people do, which makes an additional tax on the phone and/or it's useage unequal across the board. I would also like to draw attention to the concept that it might be possible to utilize surplus equiptment that the state already has to help offset some of the costs associated with new computers. I once worked for the State of MO and there were several updates to computer equipment that came during my period of employment. While it might not be new technology, it would certainly be much more advanced than something running on "DOS". Also, can anyone explain to me why updat ing equiptment is not something a City or County PLANS for in advance. There is an old addage that says something like, "Lack of planning on your part, does not necessarily constitute an emergency on mine". I think emergency services are important to everyone in our county and something that we definitely cannot live without.... quite literally. However, it would be nice to see some advance planning and wise spending practices put in place from our elected officials. If we have to budget and plan for the future, so should they.
Brian Entin can't forget that:

Jill Kasparie does not seem to agree with this. In his own words:
You can contact Coulter at 641-680-4218 if youâd like to adopt an animal or volunteer time at the sanctuary.
But Jill Kasparie says that's not all:
A nice home, however, isnât her only goal.âIâd love to have other people do this if they can. We can have a group of sanctuaries all over the place, we certainly need them in southern Iowa,â she said.

Tax Holiday Boost Posted by Teri S., Kirksville, MO - Monday, August 10, 2009 at 9:12 p.m. Missouri wasn't the only state to hold the tax holiday weekend. There were about 15 other states that did it as well. If my son was in 1st grade I would have taken advantage of this but since he is only in preschool I didn't even bother to try to buy him new clothes yet as he may have a growth spurt between now and September 8th when NMCAA preschool starts

Options for funding include a sales tax or a tax of about $1.45 per month on all cell phones in the area.
Brian Entin shows how it is done:
Well, It looks like if we want to have a beer and have every one think its okay. We all need to load up and go to Washington DC. And sit down with the President and law officers and have a beer . And who knows off camera we could even have a smoke to.Let them take all our rights away, as long as we leave them alone to do as they see fit. We no longer even have free TV they even control that. What would our Great Great Grand Parents think of that. Hurry be for they make a law aginst "THINKING" to.
Jill Kasparie brings some great news:
Her 'Dog Star Animal Sanctuary' is up and running after years of preparation. It's located just outside of Ottumwa. The sanctuary provides five acres of land for the animals to roam on, which includes a pond and open pasture.

Still being unsure, Brian Entin asks:
In response to Dick (why do I bother...) Posted by Todd Kuhns, Kirksville, MO - Wednesday, August 05, 2009 at 9:35 a.m. I didn't "spearhead" anything. The council voted for this alcohol policy last year in a 4-1 vote. It was first proposed to the council by three different parties - the airshow organizers, some members of Rotary, and the former Parks & Rec head. And yes, I voted for it and am in favor of this policy, along with the majority of our councilmen/women. I've said before (in this very forum) that I don't believe alcohol is "evil", and it's perfectly acceptable and legal for adults to enjoy it responsibly, which most people do. Let's give the fearmongering a rest.
